PROPER-GREEN RATING 2008-09 to TeL

 

award2.jpgThe State Ministry of Environment (SMoE), Republic of Indonesia has announced PROPER environmental performance rating result of for the year 2008-09. TeL got GREEN rating succeeding for five times and was very much appreciated by the State Minister of Environment on TeL’s environment performance. This  award was given  by  His Excellency Vice President , Republic of  Indonesia , Mr. Jusuf Kalla ,  which was  received with great honor by President Director  Mr. Makoto Morikawa. This ceremony was conducted on October 15, 2009  at Birawa  Assembly Hall – Hotel Bidakara, Jakarta and  was also attended by Mr. Yoshiharu Kanbe  (Vice President Director)    and DR.Subhash Maheshwari (Technical Division Head).  The function was very well attended by ministers, senior government officials, industrial leaders, key senior executives from industries and businesses and others.

  • Ministry of Environment, Republic of Indonesia has developed Company's Environmental Performance Rating Program (PROPER) as an additional compliance instrument. It is executed by disseminating company's environmental performance rating to stakeholders at national level. 

    •  

      PROPER evaluation aims at:

      -Improve compliance of companies in environmental management.

      -Improve commitment of stakeholders in creating environmental sustainability.

      -Improve sustainable environmental management performance.

      -Increase awareness of business players to comply with environmental legislation.

      -Reinforce principles: Reuse, Recycle and Recovery in waste management.

    The PROPER rating is classified in following five categories :

    o     Gold -   For businesses /activities those have successfully performed environmental management    efforts and achieved satisfactory results.

    o     Green - For businesses/activities those have performed environmental management efforts and achieved better results set forth in the regulation requirements.

    o     Blue -   For businesses/activities those have performed environmental management efforts, and have achieved the minimum standard of regulation requirements.

    o     Red -    For businesses/activities those have performed environmental management efforts, but have achieved a part.

    o     Black - For businesses/activities those who have not performed environmental management efforts properly.

    TeL's approach for business and vision for CSR is Sustained growth together in harmony with Society and Environment which is based on four pillars:

    •           Education

    •           Health

    •           Financial prosperity 

    •           Environment

    TeL achieved this  GREEN rating award by maintaining  good environmental  performance (water, air and land) and has maintained over the requirement or Beyond Compliance and at the same time  has implemented programs ; Environment Management System (ISO 14001), Resource Usage (3R) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

    Efficient and proactive environmental management is given special emphasis   at every level and area of operations. TeL is participating PROPER evaluation for last five years and got GREEN rating through including this year.  This is one of two companies which got GREEN rating consecutively last five years.  The success has contributions from all stakeholders; employees, contractors, TeL's management team , local government guidance and local community support.

    Mr. Morikawa extends his congratulations and appreciations to all the employees TeL and all  concern  for GREEN rating and trophy.

    TeL management & operational team will continue to put the efforts to proactively work to  further improve  Environment Performance.
